Emery High School junior Megan Jensen has been named 3A basketball’s Most Valuable Player, leading four All-State selections for the Lady Spartans.
Jensen was a dominating force throughout the 2017-18 season, averaging 18 points and eight rebounds per contest. Proving to be an unstoppable force down low, Jensen recorded 25 points and nine rebounds in the State Championship, helping Emery defeat Richfield 41-36.
Junior Kacelyn Toomer logged an All-State First Team selection as she averaged 12 points, four rebounds and three steals per contest. Toomer scored a career best 24 points in the season opener against Bryce Valley at the Spartan Center
Senior Lainee Jensen and Junior Kinlee Toomer garnered All-State Second Team selections after a highly productive season. Also named to the All-State Second Team last year, Jensen elevated her game by scoring 12 points per contest as a consistent threat from deep. Kinlee Toomer, also an All-State Selction in 2017, averaged 11 points per outing, while handing out five assists.
The All-State selections were voted on by all coaches in the 3A classification. The Deseret News picked Megan Jensen as the year’s MVP.
