Carbon High School senior Kelsey Sorenson was named as a first-team selection to the 3A Girl’s All-State Basketball squad, it was announced earlier this week.
The 5’10” guard/forward led the team in scoring with 14.1 points per contest. Tabbed as a do it all player for Carbon, Sorenson also averaged eight rebounds, three assists and three steals throughout her senior campaign.
Sophomore guard Jordan Bianco also garnered state-wide attention for her consistent play, earning an All-State third-team selection.
Playing in her second full season at the varsity level, Bianco averaged 9.8 points, three rebounds and three assists per game. Bianco poured in a career-best 20 points against Wasatch Academy in the non-league portion of the schedule.
Junior forward Jodi Noyes was given an honorable mention for her contributions throughout the recent season. Noyes posted a team-best 8.7 rebounds per game, while also scoring 11.5 per game.
All three individuals played a pivotal role in Carbon’s success. Finishing with a 10-2 record in Region 14 play, the Lady Dinos ended in a three-way tie for first at the top of the division.
The All-State selections are voted on by all coaches in the 3A classification.
