The Emery County Sheriff’s Office has gained a new Corrections Officer for their department. Jeremy Lake was one of 25 cadets that recently graduated from Pre-Service Academy on April 19.
Lake’s graduating Class #293 had 25 graduates, with 15 cadets set to work for the Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) at Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison or the Utah State Prison in Draper. The remaining 10 graduates will work for county correctional facilities in Davis, Duchesne, Emery, Iron, San Juan, Wasatch, Washington and Weber counties.
All of the cadets completed 15 weeks of legal classes, defensive tactics, physical fitness training, firearms training and multiple certification exams to graduate with POST (Police Officer Standards and Training) certification. Five cadets including Lake earned individual awards for outstanding performance in specific areas during the training. He received the Professionalism Award sponsored by the Utah Correctional Association.
Lake had been working with Emery County Sheriff’s Office as a Civilian Dispatcher since June 2016. He has been described as a highly-motivated, reliable individual who never hesitates to step-up to cover shifts when the Dispatch Center has been shorthanded. Outside of work, he is a skilled craftsman/artisan, avid outdoorsman, and dedicated husband and father to four boys. Deputy Lake will be a great addition to law enforcement in Emery County.
