The Carbon High School soccer season came to a close as the Dinos suffered a 1-0 loss to the Morgan Trojans in the quarterfinals of the 3A State Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon.
Playing host to the Trojans after defeating Richfield in the tournament’s opening round, the Dinos were unable to break through the stingy Morgan defense. A first half Trojan goal turned out to be the only score in the defensive battle.
Saturday’s game decided who would advance to the semifinals on Friday. The win means Morgan will now face American Leadership Academy, joining Delta and Judge Memorial in the final four.
Saturday’s loss marked the first since March 22 for the Dinos. During that span the won seven of eight games, with a tie against ALA preventing an eight game winning streak.
Carbon’s season provided several highs, including a second place finish in Region 14 and a 10-4-2 overall record.
