Brooke Moosman delivered a complete game shutout from the mound as the Carbon Lady Dinos easily defeated the Summit Academy Bears 14-0 Saturday afternoon in the opening round of 3A State Championship Tournament.

Traveling to Mount Pleasant, home of the Region 15 Champion North Sanpete Hawks, the Lady Dinos were paired against the Bears, the No. 3 seed from Region 13. The contest was never in doubt as Carbon scored two runs in the first frame and 12 more between the third, fourth and fifth innings.

Moosman was dominate from the hill giving up just four hits while also striking out four batters. The win allowed Carbon to bypass any additional Saturday action, as the team moves on to the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Cali Fossat finished 1-3 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the potent Lady Dino’s offense. Moosman helped her own cause with two hits and three RBIs. Makenna Pendergrass finished a perfect 4-4 with singles and two doubles.

The win pits Carbon in a semifinal contest with the North Sanpete Hawks Thursday afternoon in Spanish Fork.
