Five Emery High School senior student-athletes have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2018 spring sports season, with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport, by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.
Track and field athlete Landon Fairbanks joined ten other boys in the 3A classification on the Academic All-State team. The group accumulated a 3.999 GPA. The honor for Fairbanks is his second of the year after also earning the award for football in the fall.
Lainee Jensen was one of seven to be named to the Golf Academic All-State team, who combined to produce a 3.907 accumulative GPA. Jensen, who was apart of the girl’s basketball state championship team, earned the academic award in that sport as well this past winter.
Softball player Addison Healy joined a group of 10 girls who combined for a 3.996 GPA. Healy helped the Lady Spartans on the field with a .354 batting average, four doubles and two home runs throughout the season.
Boy’s soccer player James Behling was one of 10 selected to the 3A Academic team after the group combined for a 3.995 GPA. Behling, a senior leader for this year’s soccer squad, helped the team clinch the Region 15 championship in a highly successful season.
Track and field participant Elexis Dalton joined a list of 15 girls on a lengthy Academic All-State team that combined for an impressive 4.000 GPA.
