The Division of Wildlife Resources is hosting Wildlife and Wardens in conjunction with Utah’s Free Fishing Day on June 9. The event will take place at the Carbon County Community Fishing Pond located at 450 South Fairgrounds Road from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

“We encourage the whole family to be out there and we’re going to have an archery range. We’re going to have a moving archery target, kind of new this year we have in the division,” said DWR Lieutenant Ben Wolford. “Plus, we’ll have some pelts and the Helper Stop Poaching trailer. Hopefully some hot dogs and a quick lunch.” There will be bows and arrows for young outdoor enthusiasts plus they will have a chance to handle the collection of pelts, as well as antlers and skulls while learning about the animals that live in Utah’s wild places.

Lunch will be served.

The Conservation Officers have recruited some deputies from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office to assist them with all of the scheduled activities. “We want to make sure that kids know that officers are not just strict people trying to enforce the law that there is a soft side as well. That we can get on good terms with them so they know who we are and if they do run into trouble they can come to us,” stated Lieutenant Wilford. The officers look forward to Free Fishing Day to get the opportunity to interact with the youngest community members.
