The Price City Library feels it’s very important for children to maintain their reading level during their summer break. It’s this belief that’s lead library officials to offer a summer reading program each year for anyone under the age of 18 years old.

“This year our summer reading program is “Libraries Rock.” So, we’re doing a lot of different things that pertain with rock,” said Librarian Norma Procaroni. “Including rock music, rocks in general, we have a schedule planned to go to the museum, a bunch of different activities.” The two-month long program will be offered every other Tuesday at 3:00 pm with the next event scheduled for June 26 entitled Jurassic Rocks which a craft and/or activity will be presented that will tie into the week’s topic.

The Tween Program which caters to fourth through ninth graders will be held every Thursday afternoon at 3:00 pm beginning Thursday, June 14 through Thursday, August 9. Students can enjoy a fun, learning activity that is geared around the overall “Libraries Rock” theme.

The PAWS program, which is an acronym for People and Animals Working to Serve will held every Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 pm beginning June 13. “There the PAWS dogs, they’re therapy animals out at Active Re-Entry with Nancy Bentley and her group. You do need to register because we only have a limited number of animals that you can read to. It’s just really fun for the kids to come in,” said Procaroni. A sign-up sheet is available at the front desk of the library beginning Wednesday, June 13. Children who have signed up, waiting for their turn can enjoy a small craft project and enjoy a snack provided by the local Food Bank’s program called Kid’s Cafe. The Kid’s Café is available Monday through Friday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 p m.
