The Pleasant Valley Days committee invites everyone up to Scofield for their annual celebration on Friday, June 29 and Saturday, July 30. This celebration has become a family tradition for decades with activities for all ages near the fourth of July weekend.
Both Friday and Saturday there will be several vendors set up in the park with various items such as food, crafts, retail and other unique items. There will be a dinner on Friday in the park beginning at 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm with a cost of $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Guests can enjoy music and dancing by DJ John Harris. On Saturday morning, plan on attending the famous breakfast in the park at 7:00 am till 10:00 am. The hearty meal will feature pancakes, bacon, eggs, hash browns, coffee or orange juice, with a cost of $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under the age of 12.
Participants in the parade will need to be lined up at Church Street by 10:00 am for registration and judging. The categories for judging are Best Overall Float, Best Family Float, Ugliest Four-Wheeler, Best Theme and Best Children’s Float. The theme is A Star-Spangled Fourth of July and the parade will start at 11:00 am. Questions about the parade may be answered by calling (801) 566-0259
Following the parade, there will be games in the park for the kids including the usual free treasure hunt, show your strength in the tug of war, enjoy live entertainment and don’t forget to visit the old Mine Disaster exhibit that is located at the school from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Returning this year is the doubles horseshoe tournament and will be able to accommodate more teams with the installation of two more horseshoe pits. To registration early or have any questions call (435) 820-6636.
The winners of the silent auction will be announced at 5:00 pm at the park pavilion, with live family entertainment set to begin at 7:00 pm, with dancing at 9:30 pm till midnight. The festivity will close out with an amazing firework display on the lake starting at dark. Guests are invited to watch from the park while listening to live music or they may find a safe place around the lake to enjoy the show.
