Two Emery High School student-athletes recently signed letters of intent to continue their athletic career at the collegiate level beginning in the 2018-19 school year.
Tanyon Allred has signed to play soccer with the USU Eastern Eagles. Fellow Emery student-athlete Lainee Jensen will also attend USU Eastern in the upcoming school year as a member of the women’s basketball team.
Allred earned his second consecutive All-State honorable mention this past season after tying for the team lead in goals. Helping the Spartans to the Region 15 championship, Allred was a key instrument in the team’s most successful season to date.
Jensen, the lone senior on the Emery 2018 state championship basketball squad, was known as one of the most deadliest three-point shooters in the state. Named as a member of the All-State Second Team for two consecutive seasons, Jensen averaged 12 points per contest in 2018.
The USU Eastern soccer season is scheduled to begin on Aug. 10 against Blue Mountain Community College in Ontario, Ore. The women’s basketball season will get underway in October.
