The Carbon Dinos rebounded from an early 5-0 deficit and managed to score in five of the seven innings to outpoint the Emery Spartans 12-8 Friday afternoon in Helper.
Emery managed to score five runs in the top half of the first inning, the but advantage was short lived as Carbon tied the game 6-6 in the bottom of the second. Emery captured the lead once again in the in the third, but a two run stint in the bottom half of the inning gave Carbon the lead for good.
Chase Morgan earned the win on the hill for Carbon, pitching three innings striking out three, while giving up two hits and two runs, none of which were earned. Kyler Stilson was charged with the loss on the hill for the Spartans.
Mitch Olsen led the way for Carbon at the plate finishing 3-4 with three RBI. Anthony Maclean ended 4-4 with one RBI and Trey Richardson ended 3-4 with one RBI. Cole Fossat and Cody Lowe both scored three time for the Dinos in the win.
Bryce Dugmore paced the Emery offensive with two triples as the team combined for six hits. Easton Gordon and Race Nielson both finished with doubles.
For Carbon Friday's victory was their second straight, running their overall record to 2-5 on the season. The loss for Emery dips their season record to 1-5. Friday's game is the only scheduled meeting between the two varsity teams this year.
The Spartans will look to get back on the winning track as they return to the field on Tuesday to take on the South Sevier Rams at home. Carbon will travel for their only game this week on Wednesday against Maple Mountain.
