The Carbon County Fair kicked things off on August 6 and will continue on through August 25 at the Carbon County Fairgrounds and Event Center on 393 South Fairgrounds Road.

On August 9, all the children in the community can come to enjoy Riley’s Mobile Entertainment/Den and Jen’s Bouncers starting at 12:00 pm and will be a part of the festivities all weekend. In the evening beginning at 5:00 pm there will be a Traxxas RC’s Obstacle Course hosted by Castle Country Hobby & Pawn, they too will be a part of the weekend schedule. There will be a Power Wheels Derby, free root beer floats by Swire Coca-Cola and the day will close with a Pet Contest at 6:00 pm.

Friday the exhibits will open to the community at 10:00 am, vendor booths will open at 12:00 pm, there will be free train rides, carriage rides and a petting zoo. There will be a tug of war competition, cornhole tournament, cardboard car race and chalk fight. Once dusk rolls around there will be a flight night at the model airport and an outdoor movie held on the soccer fields.

The schedule for Saturday is pretty much the same as Friday except there will be a Dutch oven cook-off, model air show, young farmers market, coloring contest, baby contest and a pie baking contest. The night will close with what has become a long-standing tradition in the area which is the Carbon County Search and Rescue Demolition Derby. The gates for the derby will open at 4:00 pm with drivers starting their engines at 6:00 pm.

Later on, August 17 at 7:00 pm will be the Robbers Roost Team Roping competition with registration at 6:00 pm. Then on August 18 there will be a Community Blood Drive from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, everyone is welcomed and encouraged to attend. On Saturday, August 25 beginning at 10:00 am there will be a Kiddie-Con event, vendor booths, live entertainment, Riley’s Mobile Entertainment/Den and Jen’s Bouncers and free popsicles.
