The Emery Spartans delivered a fourth place finish in the third Region 15 meet of the season as the team fired a final score of 350 Wednesday afternoon at the Millsite Golf Course.
Shaving 10-strokes off of the final team total for the second consecutive week, the Spartans edged out South Sevier by one stroke for fourth place. Grand managed to take the top spot, defeating second place Richfield by five strokes. Manti ended in third with a 337. North Sanpete and San Juan rounded out the field of seven.
Oakley Toomer continued to impress by once again leading Emery with a final individual score of 75. Shaidyn Killpack was second on the team with an 83. Taylor Lindsey’s 94 and Logan Healey’s 98 marked the team’s final two scores.
“Again, we improved by ten strokes this, and that’s great,” said head coach Kevin Reynolds. “Oakley and Shaidyn played great and the rest are continuing to get better.”
Wednesday’s solid performance brings Emery within three strokes of fourth place North Sanpete. Richfield contiues to hold a commanding lead at the top of the division, while Grand and Manti follow in second and third.
The Spartans will continue the golf season on Thursday, Aug. 23 with a trip to Blanding.
