The Carbon Dinos managed to fight through the rain and wind to extend their overall region lead Tuesday afternoon at Spanish Oaks Golf Course in Spanish Fork.

The harsh weather was a direct correlation to a massive increase in team scores as Carbon finished with a 359, six strokes better than second place Delta. Providence Hall ended third with a 388, followed by Union’s 393. Juab, American Leadership Academy and Maeser Prep rounded out the field of seven.

Brady Gagon led the charge through the rough conditions with an 81, the low overall score for the meet. Carson Martines provided the second low score for Carbon with a 91. Kaden Slavenksy’s 92 and Nick Olson’s 95 worked as the team’s final two scores.

Carbon now holds a 45-stroke lead over Delta at the top of the Region 14 standings. After holding just a two-stroke lead following the first meet, the Dinos have continued to extend the advantage week-by-week.

After logging Tuesday’s top score Gagon has now moved into first place on the overall individual leaderboard, passing Delta’s Jake Henrie by three-strokes. Martines and Slavensky sit third and fifth.

Carbon will now get a full week off from region play before the next meet, Aug. 29 in Delta. The seven Region 14 teams will compete at Sunset View Golf Course, the home site for the Delta Rabbits.
