The Emery Lady Spartans suffered its first loss of the Region 15 season, falling to the Manti Templars 4-2 Thursday afternoon in Castle Dale.
Entering the contest with identical 3-0 league records, the highly important tilt lived up to the expectations. The Templars held a slim 1-0 lead at the break and managed to outscore the Lady Spartans 3-2 over the final half.
Alexis Winter scored yet another goal for Emery in the setback. Teryn Allred also found the back of the net to register Emery’s second goal. The two goal performance was the lowest scoring output from Emery since a 4-1 loss to Ben Lomond on Aug. 10.
Nicole Nelson led the way for the Templars by scoring not once, but twice. Ally Squire and Brynlee Golding each added one goal for Manti in the win.
Now 3-1 overall in league play, the Lady Spartans will look to bounce back on Tuesday with a road trip to Mount Pleasant against North Sanpete. The two teams met back on Aug. 28, which resulted in a 5-2 win for Emery.
