The Desert Thunder Raceway will play host to its biggest, and final races of the 2018 season Sept. 28, 29 and 30 with the Castle Country Clash.

Wrapping up the season, which started back in April, the Desert Thunder Raceway has developed a tradition with the finale each year. The three-day event will feature six classes, including the traditional IMCA Modified, IMCA Sports Modified and IMCA Stock Cars.

“This year we are going to be even bigger because we’ve added two complete races to the four that we’ve already had scheduled,” said track owner Harvey Howard. “We’ve added a lot of extra people to make sure that everything goes right and everyone has fun. It’s definitely going to be the biggest thing we’ve ever done.”

Traditionally the IMCA Modified class has been revered as the main attraction. That will once again be the case as over 30 cars are expected to compete in that particular class.

In the IMCA Modified classification local driver Wyatt Howard is looking to cap off a fantastic 2018 season with a track championship. Standing in his way is National Championship contender Zane Devilbiss, who has a winning history at the Desert Thunder Raceway.

“Once again we are one of the last races of the IMCA points season, so there are some big names here competing,” said Harvey Howard. “On the local level Zane and Wyatt are battling it out for the track championship. There’s local, state and national points and that’s bringing in guys from all over the country.”

Races will begin Friday at 7:00 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM and Sunday at 11:00 AM. The four races in three-days marks the biggest schedule the track has ever had.

Admission for Friday and Saturday night’s action starts at $10.00 for adults, and $8.00 for seniors and $6.00 for kids 6-12. Adult Saturday and Sunday morning sessions are $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors and $5.00 for kids 6-12. Family passes will be available both nights for $25.00. Kids 5-and-under are free.

For those wanting to get even closer to the action Pit Passes will be available for $15.00. This added incentive gives both hardcore and casual race fans an opportunity to see the action up close.
