The Emery High School boy’s cross country dominated the field of four for a first place finish, while the Lady Spartans ended second Wednesday afternoon at a Region 15 meet in Manti.
Bryar Meccariello, McKay Meccariello and Chase Christiansen gave the Spartans a one-two-three finish on the boy’s side of the competition. Beau Cook and Byron Christiansen also logged top-10 finishes, giving Emery a 28-point advantage over second place Manti. South Sevier and Richfield rounded out the field of four.
Addie Lester, Carlie Bennett and Bethany Justice all finished in the top-five as the Lady Spartans secured a second place finish. Manti ended at the top of the team leaderboard with a final score of 28, beating out Emery by two points. Richfield rounded out the field in third.
Only three meets remain in the cross country season. Emery will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 2 with a trip to North Sanpete. The region finale will follow Oct. 9, followed by the state championship on Oct. 17.
