The Carbon Lady Dinos defeated the Juab Wasps in a five-set Region 14 thriller Tuesday night at Carbon High School.

“I am seriously so proud of our girls, all their hard work finally paid off tonight,” said head coach Teresa Mower, “We should have done it in three, but I’m just proud that they had to fight back, come back, and win.”

Taking control early the Lady Dinos won the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-17. However, the Wasps tied Carbon with wins in the third and fourth sets, 28-26 and 25-21, to force the decisive fifth set.

Carbon earned the match with a hard fought 15-11 in the back-and-forth fifth set. The win moves Carbon to 5-2 in Region 14 play, placing the team second overall with four games remaining on the schedule.

“Honestly, tonight we played awesome,” said MaKenna Blanc. “I think we can work on our blocks a little more and then we’ll be solid.”

With only two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Lady Dinos will travel on the road Thursday for a division tilt against American Leadership Academy. Carbon won the first meeting back on Sept. 11 in straight sets.
