The Division of Wildlife Resources will host a free Mule Deer watch on the evening of Saturday, November 17 at the Nash Wash Wildlife Management Area located at the foot of the Book Cliffs and North of the town of Cisco, just about two hours from Price.

“Utah is a beautiful and a great state, especially, when it comes to wildlife there’s so many opportunities. We’re lucky that we get to live in a place where we can enjoy the wildlife that we have here,” said Regional Conservation Outreach Manager, Morgan Jacobsen. “So, you know in connection with that we’re hosting an event to let people get up close and have an opportunity to see mule deer up close during the rut.” As many as 100 deer can be seen in a relatively small area but will depend on the weather, food, supply and other variables.

The rut is a special time of year, that’s when mule deer are mating. “It’s a great time to see wildlife because they’re not necessarily concerned about human presence necessarily. They’re mostly occupied with males fighting each other, they’re chasing does around, things like that.” Also, this is the perfect time to take photographs as the dee are less concerned about humans.

The event is limited to the first 25 people and must signup online at https://goo.gl/Nhw1y4 The meeting location and other details about this event will be provided upon registration. Participants should bring with them binoculars or spotting scope, a camera, water, warm clothes and snacks.
