Dan R Johnson, age 66, passed away November 19, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was born April 6, 1952 in Chanute, Kansas to Harry and Mary Jane Johnson. He attended Kansas State University and moved to Price in 1980 to work for Farmers Insurance. He had a long and distinguished career and retired after 38 years earlier this year. Dan married Mary Alice Jones in 1999 after a long courtship.

Dan’s professional and social life was dedicated to serving others. He was involved in numerous organizations including the Junior Jaycees, Kiwanis, Ducks Unlimited and National Wild Turkey Foundation. The last number of years his heart has been dedicated to Elkdom. Dan and Mary Alice traveled extensively with their positions in the Elks and gained numerous friendships they cherished. Dan was past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and past State President of the Utah Elks Association.

Dan is survived by his wife, Mary Alice, stepsons Rick (Ronnie) Jones, Robby (Kathy) Jones, step-grandsons Easton and MacGregor Jones. Sister Glenda Madl and nephew Marc (Melisa) Johnson. Brother-in-law Don Holmes and niece Renee Close. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Judy Holmes. Dan’s family would like to thank the medical team from the Huntsman Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge and Symbii Home Health and Hospice in Dan’s final days.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 24, 2018 1:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price with a wake to follow at the Elks Lodge.
