The Castle Valley Civic Ballet have been busy with rehearsals for the last few months and it’s now time to show off all their hard work. The Fifth Annual performance of The Nutcracker will begin at 7:30 pm on Thursday, December 6 and run till Saturday, December 8th at Mont Harmon Middle School.
Stephanie Richards, Director spoke about preparations for the show, “We had auditions the last weekend of August, they come in and we divide it by age groups.” The dancers ranged from ages 6 years old or 1st grade to adults and auditioned for about an hour in front of a panel of choreographers. Richards continued, “It’s just a collaboration of local dancers in the area.”
The ballet company has added some new costumes to the show this year. They are hoping that with each year of the show they will be able to incorporate more costumes, props, backdrops and of course more dancers.
This will be an annual event for community members to come and enjoy the second weekend of December every year. Richards finished with, “I just want everyone to know that we’ve got a great show, we have some very talented dancers and we hope to see you Thursday, Friday and Saturday.”
Tickets are being sold at the door, plus both locations of Market Express. Admission prices is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for 6 to 4 years of age, children 3 years and under is free.
