An explosive first quarter set the stage for the Carbon Lady Dinos in a comfortable 69-27 victory over the Providence Hall Patriots Thursday night at home.

Racing out to a 19-1 lead by the end of the first quarter, Carbon held control of the second region contest of the season throughout. Up 32-9 at the midway point, head coach Ted Bianco was able showcase the team’s depth as 12 players scored at least one point.

Jordan Bianco posted a game-high 14 points, 12 of which came from the three-point line, in the lopsided win. Kaytlyn Cripps chipped in with 13 and Abbie Saccomanno added 10.

The 69 points scored by marks the highest output the team has produced so far this season. After finishing the non-region season 5-2, the Lady Dinos blasted through the first week of region play winning two games by a combined total of 60 points.

Jesirae Berthoud was the lone Patriot player to reach double-figures, scoring a team-high 13 points. Madison Hufford delivered six and Rachel Weiss ended with four.

Carbon joins Delta as the only two unbeaten teams remaining in Region 14 just two games into league play. The two squads will meet for the first time on Tuesday in Delta at 7:00 p.m.. The second meeting will take place Jan. 17 at home.
