The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce Ryan Murray, stopped by to conduct his final Good News Minute interview as Chamber President and made a couple of important announcements including naming the new 2019 Chamber President.
“Colleen Loveless she’s the President-elect and she is going to be taking over as President and that will be official with our Installation Banquet that is coming up,” stated Murray. “We get to recognize a lot of our local businesses, some of the accomplishments that they’ve done over the past year and we will be having the new board members and new President.” The 2019 Installation and Awards Banquet will take place on January 17 at 6:00 pm at the Carbon Country Club. The cost to attend for Chamber Members is $25.00 per person, non-chamber members are $30.00 per person. To RSVP before the deadline of January 10 just call the Chamber office at 637-2788. No-shows will be billed.
Over the holidays the Chamber held a Best in Business competition entitled “Best in Fest” for local businesses. The contest was based on holiday festive décor on and/or inside the business location. “We’ve been doing our Best in Business competition all year long and we did a “Best in Fest” for the festival season and we would love to announce the winner, Naturally Inspired was our winner that came from all of your votes,” said Murray. Naturally Inspired is located at the corner of Main Street and Carbon Avenue and specializes in handmade, natural based bath & body products, as well as women’s clothing.
Another holiday contest that was conducted was to get consumers to shop local, especially over the holiday season. “We did our Shop Castle Country, we had 31 participants and they submitted local receipts of purchases in excess of $100,000.00,” stated Murray. This year’s winner was Dawn Clovard who won a prize package from the chamber and sponsors. This year’s sponsors included Emery Telcom, R&R Designs, The Klip Shop, Body Glo Day and Medical Spa, Birch Electric, Wee Play Care, Cold Stone Creamery, Price Theatre, Desert Wave Pool, Maurice’s and Jensen Country Lanes Bowling Alley.
