Castleview Physical Therapy is hosting an educational program called Joint Camp to assist any individuals that are scheduled for or considering a total hip or knee replacement surgery.

“The camp will focus on individuals that are looking to have a joint replacement, either a hip or a knee in the near future; if they’re having any issues with arthritis or anything like that,” explained Director Brian Powell. “Basically, the class will be talking about what to expect from surgery, after surgery. What kind of things they can do to prepare for surgery and come out of the surgery much better.” Other topics of discussion will be pain management, education for caretakers and expectations and recovery. A better understanding of joint replacement can lead to faster recovery times.

At Join Camp, event organizers will answer commonly asked questions in regards to replacement surgery. “It’s a monthly class and it will be free for the public, anybody is welcomed to come and it will be held at the hospital in the classrooms. The first one we’re holding on January 17 at 7:00 pm,” said Powell. The classrooms are located at the South Entrance of the hospital located at 300 North Hospital Drive. Generally, patients who attend the informational program prior to surgery typically have a much better experience and it provides higher patient satisfaction.
