Beginning on March 11 construction will start on the bridge on the west end of 100 North in Price. This will be a 125-day project set with a completion date of August.

“The primary scope of the project is to really replace the bridge deck as it passes over the railway there. There is some complexity of that because of the fact that we are passing over the railway and Main Street and the pedestrian access is through there so that will be a little complex in how we negotiate that but basically that is the essence of that,” said Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Spokesperson, Kevin Kitchen. The railing on the bridge nearest to the pedestrian walkway will also be upgraded, plus the road width will decrease by a foot to increase the pedestrian walk-way sidewalk.

Granite Construction is the company that will be implementing the construction along with some local contractors. Officials will be working closely with the railway as the project progresses. “Some of the other partners we’ve got is a public involvement firm that we’ve brought on in order to help answer questions for the public and we would invite the public to make sure that they get connected with us so they can get regular updates via email and so forth and Frontline PI will be helping us with that,” stated Kitchen. “Now one thing I should mention as far as detours, I know a lot of people are concerned about that, we will have signs that show where to detour. You know local streets will still be available. There will be six days where we will have to shut down Main Street underneath the structure and we’ll try to give ample notice for that so that people will be prepared for that because we know that is heavily used.” The earliest detours and closures will begin is on March 18.

Residents can receive project updates by sending an email to dave@frontlinepi.com to be added to the project news list.
