Its been some time since the Carbon County Animal Control Department has been fully staffed but since becoming under the direction of the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, they are now fully staffed and ready to offer its services to the community.

“So, if you need Animal Control, we are now fully staffed again at Animal Control. They’re fully staffed these days is three full-time employees is what we have out there,” said Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood. “There’s a lot of things that go on in Animal Control that I would like to talk about today. There has been some controversy on social media that rises every now and again about whether or not we put animals down at the shelter. Since 2017, we have not put down a dog at the shelter, there hasn’t been one that we put down – we only do that in the most extreme cases and that’s something that’s injured to the point that it can’t be rehabbed.” The county does their best to keep the animals locally with the last resort being through a rescue facility who sometimes will profit from the sale of a dog or cat. So, it’s important for the county to try to keep the adoptable animals here locally.

Sheriff Jeff Wood finished by saying, “They’re back to being fully staffed, so if you need them call dispatch. They got into a culture of being able to call Animal Control Officers directly and that makes it difficult because you don’t know which one is on duty. So call dispatch at 637-0890 if you have animal control needs.” The Animal Shelter is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and closed Saturday and Sundays.
