The Carbon baseball squad dropped a non-region game to the 5A Provo Bulldogs 5-0 on Thursday at Gardner Field in Helper.

In a make up game from earlier in the season, the Dinos couldn’t find any offense as Provo made the most of their opportunities. Provo junior Walker Moore was a one man wrecking crew getting four RBI’s on three hits and also went seven innings giving up just three hits while walking two batters and striking out three in the shutout.

Carbon used three different pitchers throughout the game. Carbon freshmen Keaton Rich and Jordan Fossat combined for three innings giving up four runs (one earned), nine walks and striking out four, while sophomore Cayden Steele went three innings giving up one earned run on two hits and striking out three.

Offensively the Dinos couldn’t get going all game registering just three hits and striking out three times. Down by only one run early, Carbon would surrender three runs in the fourth inning and then  one more in the sixth.

This game brings Carbon’s record to 4-7 overall but 3-0 in Region 14 standings, which lands them in second place. As they head into the second month of the season the look forward to competing down the stretch for a region crown.

Carbon will take on American Leadership Academy on Friday at 3:30 in Helper. Be sure to listen in on KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM as we will have full coverage beginning with pre-game at 3 pm.
