Emery softball lost a tight one in 10 innings to the San Juan Broncos on the road Tuesday, 8-7 in Blanding. In a relatively quiet game until the fifth inning, when after that it became a slug fest back and forth all the way till the tenth when San Juan finally came away with the win.
Emery racked up 19 hits on San Juan pitching with senior Gracee Bowers getting the complete game win for the Broncos. The Spartans used three pitchers in the game with junior Brailee Clark given the loss after coming in in the seventh inning giving up one run in extras.
Offensively for the Spartans senior AdriAnne Childs and sophomore Kaejha Johnson both registered two RBI’s , with Childs recording four hits in six at bats. With the score tied 3-3 at the end of seven, the Broncos and Spartans needed three extra innings to decide the winner on a day when everything on the stats chart would have lead you to believe the Spartans won the game except the line that mattered most, the final score.
The Spartans now sit at 7-3 overall and 3-3 in Region 15 rankings which puts them in fourth place with just a month left in the season. Emery’s next region game is against San Juan in Castle Dale on Friday April 5th at 3:30 pm.
Before that however they have a non-region game Wednesday April 3rd in Herriman against Providence Hall. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
