The Emery Spartans softball team dominated Providence Hall in a non-region road game on Wednesday.

The Spartans created offense early scoring 18 runs in the second inning and adding four more in the third, which led to the game being called. Emery had 21 hits with multiple players contributing to the offense.

Senior Bailey Huggard had an outstanding day at the plate, registering three hits in three at bats with four RBI’s while scoring three runs. Senior Ambree Bennett and junior Janessa Weston added three RBI’s each, with Weston launching the only home run in the contest.

Defensively the Spartans used two pitchers and gave up only one hit. Sophomore Kaylee Price went two innings allowing no hits and striking out six and junior Braileigh Clark went one frame giving up  one hit and striking out three. Emery showed their dominance early and often against an overwhelmed Providence Hall team.

The win puts Emery at 8-4 overall and 3-4 in region play. This weekend they will head to the Payson Icebreaker Tournament where their first opponent will be the Carbon Dinos.

Before they can do that they will look to avenge their 8-7 loss from earlier in the week as they face the San Juan Broncos at home on Friday. This is a big match up for the Spartans, if they want to keep pace in a very competitive Region 15. Game time is set for 3:30.
