The Emery Spartans lost to the Manti Templars 17-7 in a Region 15 game Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.

The Spartans scored two runs during the first inning, while unable to hold the Templars back from scoring nine runs in the first two.

Ambree Bennett scored three out of the seven Spartan runs on just two hits. Cambrie Jensen, Taleigh Price, AdriAnne Childs and Madisyn Alton each had a run to round out the scoring for Emery.

Braleigh Clark pitched three innings, giving up four hits, and three runs all earned, she also surrendered a home run. Kaejha Johnson pitched one inning giving up two runs, one earned . Kaylee Price was given the loss in this one, pitched for an inning giving up  five hits eight runs, two earned.

Emery and Manti each scored four runs in the fifth inning, but in the bottom of the sixth the Spartans were only able to score one while giving up another four to the Templars.

In the end the loss dropped the Spartans into fourth place in Region 15 at 4-5 and 11-9 overall. Emery will next take on the North Sanpete Hawks in Mount Pleasant on Wednesday.
