The Carbon School District weekly update is shining the spotlight on Castle Heights Elementary this week. Principal Chris Winfree took time from his busy schedule to talk about all the fun things taking place at the school this month.
“May is always a super busy time at any of the schools. Obviously, elementary school we’ve got testing going on and all of our upper grades with their RISE testing – kids have been working on that. We’ve got testing going on in our lower grades too as they finish out the year,” said Principal Winfree.
Kindergarten Round-up for Castle Heights will be taking place from April 29 to May 3 for any students who will be 5 years of age on or before September 1. New students must present their birth certificate and immunizations record when registering for school.
Next week will be a very busy week for the school as they use the week to show their appreciation to all the teachers. “So, for us it is an opportunity to recognize our teachers and honor them for all that they do. We thank the PTA, they make a big stink on every day of the week for the teachers doing activities, gifts for the teachers. We as a school try to do some things as well, breakfast, lunches, things like that,” stated Principal Winfree. This is a perfect opportunity for all students and parents to say thank you to their teachers for all their hard work and dedication during the school year.
On May 17 the school will host their fifth-grade graduation. “That’s also D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) graduation. So, the fifth-graders go through the D.A.R.E. program and talking about different things that they can do to keep themselves safe from drugs, alcohol and tobacco and those things – we do that as part of our actual fifth-grade graduation. So, we invite parents to come out and we recognize the fifth-graders as they will be moving on from Castle Heights to Mont Harmon,” explained Principal Winfree.
The school will be hosting their annual Field Day event on May 21 for all students. Any parents that wish to volunteer may contact the school at (435) 637-7177.
