The United Way of Eastern Utah is excited to announce another summer of the Step Up Dance Program scheduled to begin on June 11. This program is still in its infant stage as this summer will only be its second year running but officials are looking forward to another successful year with more participants.
“Actually, what we do is we have the Carbon High Drill Team who comes in and helps us, it’s all volunteer hours and they come in and they teach the kids from qualifying families four different dances and they put on the entire program,” said United Way of Eastern Utah Representative, Alexandria Bonaquisto. This program is open for low-income families for children ages 5 to 10 years old in both Carbon and Emery Counties. Applications can be found online at https://www.uweu.org/
There will be a $10.00 fee to participate and participants will be required to attend dance practice twice a week. “They run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and they are actually held out at the Community Center at the Housing Development behind Walmart,” said Bonaquisto. The Community Center can be found at 251 South 1600 East, #2647. After three weeks of instruction, there will be an end of the season recital on June 28 for families to attend, the location will be announced at a later date.
