The International Days Celebration inside Washington and Pioneer Park is the city’s biggest celebration of the year. The three-day event begins on Thursday, July 25 and runs through till Saturday, July 27.

“This is an event that is six months in the works, so we start meeting in January at the very beginning of the year and we meet every month and we got a huge committee – it’s city employees, it’s the college, and other community members, the radio station, there’s so many people involved in putting on International Days and it’s such a big event that we want to make sure that it’s well-publicized, that everybody knows about it and the nobody misses out on all the fun things that we have,” said Price City Council Member, Amy Knott-Jespersen. All the hard work and planning will pay off as there will be so many options of activities, events, live entertainment, food and various vendors that is sure to appeal to all ages.

Inaugural Ceremonies will take place on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm at the Peace Gardens. “So, this is when we have our welcome, we recognize our Grand Marshall and Citizen of the Year and our Junior Grand Marshalls. It’s just our big kick-off, we got a concert, so after the concert we will have fireworks, approximately 9:45 pm so it should be plenty dark by then,” explained Knott-Jespersen. The fireworks are being sponsored by AutoFarm-Ford, AutoFarm-Jeep, Ram, Dodge Chrysler and Blue Diamond-GM.

On both Thursday and Friday, the public is welcome to swim for free at the Desert Wave Pool from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The annual belly flop and hula hoop contest will be featured, along with other activities for a chance to win prizes and guests can enjoy the delicious food at the concession stand.

Friday morning is all about the kiddos. There will be the kids parade at 9:30 am and the Castleview Hospital Kids Day at the park where there will be several bouncers, games and activities set up for all of the kids. At noon is when the vendors will open for business and the live entertainment will begin on the main stage in the park.

The evening’s activities include Fortnite Video Game Tournament, Burn-out Contest, Carbon Rec’s Basketball Tournament, a movie under the stars and the carnival will open. “So, City of Fun is going to be our carnival provider this year and they do huge events so they’re about twice as big as the carnival we had last year. City of Fun does the State Fair and they are planning on bringing twelve rides, four or five game vendors and a couple of food vendors,” stated Knott-Jespersen. The carnival is set to open from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Friday and from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Saturday.

Saturday will begin bright and early with the annual Lion’s Club Breakfast at 7:00 am, followed by the United Way’s 5K starting at 8:00 am. The annual golf tournament out at the Carbon Country Club will have a shot gun start of 8:00 am where various holes are sponsored by many businesses and merchants in the area.

The annual parade will begin at 10:00 am on Main Street and with the construction on the west side bridge the parade route will be rerouted. “So, this year because of the bridge construction on 100 north that first north overpass we are ending the parade a block sooner, so it’s going to end at Carbon Avenue. So, we encourage people to not set up on that block between Carbon Avenue and 100 West, so if you set up there you are going to miss the parade,” explained Knott-Jespersen. After the parade guests can head to Washington and Pioneer Park to enjoy all the similar activities held on Friday, with the addition of a horseshoe tournament, car show, rock climbers and of course different performers on the main stage. The evening entertainment will feature the unique and wildly enjoyable lip sync competition, So You Think You Can Sync sponsored by Castle Country Radio at 5:00 pm, followed by a local crowd favorite Jeff Keele Band closing out the day at 7:00 pm.

This year’s sponsors include Zions Bank, Sutherlands, ETV10, Price Auto Farm, Blue Diamond GM, Price Auto Group, Pinnacle HVAC, and Boys and Girls Club of Price.
