The Carbon Dinos faced adversity for the first time this season, finishing third overall at the fourth Region 12 meet Thursday afternoon at the Millsite Golf Course in Ferron.

Ending with a total team score of 327, Carbon finished four strokes behind second place Richfield and 10 behind first place Grand. South Sevier shot a 363, topping Emery by 13-strokes on their home course. San Juan completed the field of six with a 403.

Freshman Bode Salas fired a 75, placing him in a second-place tie on the individual leaderboard. Nick Olson was second with a 78, followed by Brady Gagon’s 84. Kaden Slavensky registered the fourth score for the team ending with a 90.

Despite the third place meet finish the Dinos maintain a commanding lead at the top of the divisional standings. While Grand was able to cut into Carbon’s advantage, they still trail by 38-strokes. Carbon also holds a 60-stroke lead over third place Richfield.

The Dinos will have an opportunity to get back on track when region play continues on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The next meet will take place at Cove View, the home site of the South Sevier Rams.
