The Ascension St Matthew’s Church annual Fall Fare will take place on Friday, October 11 from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, October 12 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. This community event will take place at the church which is located at 522 North Homestead Boulevard in Price.

“Well we’ve been doing this for a number of years and we have a bunch of very faithful people that come every single year to see us. One of the things that we do, we have some of the best cooks in Carbon County and so we have food which is in the form of all kinds of different soups and chilies and baked goods,” said an Event Organizer, Pam Adams. This year will feature cakes from Brazil which will be made by one of the church’s parishioners. On Saturday morning organizers will be serving various breakfast casseroles to enjoy. Guests are invited to purchase one of the many delicious food items either by dining in at the church or there is the option for take-out.

Another fun event that takes place during the Fall Fare is the Annual Silent Auction. “We have a silent auction and we always have many of our wonderful people who contribute, that are business people, who contribute gift certificates that you can bid on and we encourage people to bid on the items that are there. That goes on till we close on Saturday at 2:00 pm,” explained Adams. All of the winners of the silent auction will be determined and notified after the Fall Fare is over.

The church’s gift shop will be open for visitors during the event. “Many of them are one of a kind items, much of it is handcrafted, machine crafted – knit, crocheted, painted, you name it we have it in there. It’s just inside the door of the church as you come in,” said Adams. Other featured items include Advent candles and wreaths, religious jewelry and Christmas crafts.

All the proceeds from the event go towards the  building fund and community outreach program as Adams explains further, “The reason that we do this is because we’ve been in our new building and we still call it the new building for 17 years and things are beginning to wear out a bit so we need to do repairs on the church that goes along with it. We also try to do as much as we possibly can in terms of community outreach for people who need it.”

Community members are always welcomed to come share the spirit at Sunday services at 10:30 am with fellowship following the service with snacks and coffee.
