Thomas Harold McCrary, 82, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on October 12, 2019 in Provo, while surrounded by family and friends.
He was born January 6, 1937 in Waco, Texas to Alfred Harvey and Inez Cook McCrary. Married the love of his life, Martha Jean Hindman, February 3, 1956 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Rev. McCrary was deeply devoted to the Lord and his country. He honorably served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Rev. McCrary dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel of Christ with others and was instrumental in establishing five churches. He was the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Huntington from 1998-2004 and later served as deacon at the Grace Baptist Church of Castle Country. Rev. McCrary received his Bachelors of Theology from Clarksville School of Theology in Tennessee in 1975.
While residing in the area, Thomas worked at the Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments where he retired in 2003. In 2005, he returned to work for Carbon County as the project manager for the Carbon County Senior Center, Animal Shelter, Sheriff Intake Building, Ambulance Garage, North Springs Shooting Range, the County Administration Building, Division of Wildlife Resource Building and numerous other projects throughout the area. Rev. McCrary touched the hearts of many and his generosity will be cherished forever.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Jean McCrary, Price; two daughters and one son, Deanna Rae (Rick) Larson, Custer South Dakota, Samantha Ann (Steve) Kelsun, Lakeside, Oregon. Thomas Harold Jr., (Katherine) McCrary, Phoenix, Arizona; special friends, Fred (Tina) Lundell, Price; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a fellowship of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James and Hugh McCrary; sisters, Alla Mae and Lula Bea; and two great-grandchildren, Gracie Lynn and Isabelle Rose.
Funeral service, Wednesday, October 16, 2019, 11:00 a.m., Grace Baptist Church of Castle Country (396 South Carbon Ave) in Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery.
