Looking for something different to do on Thanksgiving morning? The 11th Annual Turkey Trot is set for 8:30 A.M. on November 28. This unique race has a little something for everyone.

Scott Merrell, organizer stopped in to talk with Jordan Buscarini about this fun event.

“About 11 years ago I kind of wanted something to do on Thanksgiving Day, and I knew other communities had Turkey Trot’s, 5K’s or runs that they put on, so me and a group of friends got together and put together a run” Merrell said.

The reason that this race is so unique is that it starts at the Carbon County Events Center and goes all the way out to Pinnacle Peak which is an eight mile round trip. All the way along the course, distances are marked every half mile, so if you want to run three miles you could just turn around at the mile and a half marker. If you feel like running the full eight mile course you can as well.

“So if you’ve got family members that enjoy running or just want to walk or they’re looking for something to do because they’re spending Thanksgiving with you, you don’t have to go to a website and pre-register, you can put anywhere in from one mile to eight miles.” Merrell went on to say,” The road is good enough that you can have a toddler in a stroller, pets on a leash, we do have some kids that will ride bikes alongside their parents”

The race will begin at the Carbon County Events Center at 8:30 in the morning, all they ask for a fee is non-perishable food items that can be donated to the food bank.
