It is with great sadness the family of Colleen Swasey announces her passing after a courageous battle with Melanoma on Friday, December 20, 2019, surrounded by her family at the tender age of 64.
Colleen was born on December 6, 1955 to Merril Lamont Young Jr. and Marilyn Olsen Young in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She moved to Wellington when she was in the 6th grade. Colleen attended and graduated Carbon High School. She married Larry Charles Swasey on April 6, 1974 in the Manti Temple.
Colleen’s favorite thing to do was to be with her family. She enjoyed spending time camping, going on vacations, and planning holiday parties. Colleen loved watching her children and grandchildren doing the things that they loved. Colleen was a very talented tole painter, an amazing outdoor cook, and she could find laughter in anything.
Colleen is survived by her husband and eternal companion of 45 years Larry Swasey, her children Valerie Lubicz (Bob Bartleson), Shawna Sherman (Kirk), Melissa Pedroza, and Cori Swasey, all of Price. Colleen will be lovingly remembered by her 8 grandchildren, Kindra Swasey, Devin and Baylie Lubicz, Kaylen Fisher, Braydon Swasey, Preston and Peyton Pedroza, two great grandchildren, Kinslie and Cameron Swasey, her mother Marilyn Young, her brothers, sisters, their spouses, aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.
Colleen was preceded in death by her father Merril Young, her grandson, Cade Swasey; her nephew, Ryan Thayn; a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
Funeral service, Friday, December 27, 2019, 11:00 a.m., Price Fifth Ward Chapel (545 East 400 North) where the family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Wellington City Cemetery.
