For those who heard the roar of sirens Saturday (12-21-19) morning in Price, there was no need for alarm! It was just our annual Shop with a Cop event.  Law Enforcement agencies from throughout Carbon County, led by the Price City Police Department gathered to provide 42 local youths with the fun of spending the morning shopping with a cop.

The event started at the Tuscan Event Center where everyone enjoyed a breakfast donated by our local Price McDonald’s.  Kids and families mingled and enjoyed some time getting to know and hanging out with officers.

Following the breakfast, the kids were loaded up in the various agency police vehicles and enjoyed a parade down Main Street to Walmart.  Many of the kids enjoyed being able to control the lights and sirens or wishing passing motorists a Merry Christmas via the patrol car loudspeakers.

Once at Walmart, the 42 kids and their families enjoyed the festive holiday season as they got to do some shopping.  In the end, everyone left with smiles and more than a few joyful tears were shed.

Shop with a Cop is fully funded by grants and community donations.  The Price City Police Department would like to thank our local Price Walmart and the Utah Police Civilian Association as well as several anonymous community members for their generation donations.  In total this year the Price City Police Department was able to obtain just over $5300.00 in funds to be used for Shop with a Cop.

A heartfelt and special thanks goes out to our local Price McDonald’s, The Tuscan Event Center, Bethel 3 Jobs Daughters, Miss Carbon County Royalty, and Price City for all of their help.

We would also like to recognize the awesome Officers, Deputies, and Troopers from the Price City Police Department, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, Helper City Police Department, Wellington City Police Department, East Carbon Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol, Adult Probation and Parole and the Bureau of Land Management for all they do and for volunteering their time to make this such a special event for the kids involved.
