Margherete Monnett Marx, age 98, died February 21, 2020.

She was born May 5, 1921to Italian immigrant parents Peter and Ambrosina Quelvio Monnett in a small farmhouse east of Price.

Margherete graduated from Carbon High School and began working. She worked for J.C. Penny Co., Rental Office (Dragerton) during World War II, First National Bank, Price Trading Company and 30 years for the Geneva Steel Company in Horse Canyon and Dragerton. In addition, she was a bookkeeper for the Carbon-Emery Animal By-Products Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Marx; brother, Dr. George A. Monnett and wife Betty Jo Johnson Monnett; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Shirley and husband Ted Marakis. She and Jay dearly loved their many nieces and nephews and treated them as if they were their own children. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Murray Shorts; sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Nadine and Cherrill Marx; and many cousins and friends.

Funeral service, Friday, February 28, 2020, 11:00 a.m., Price United Methodist Church (10 North 200 East) in Price. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
