Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Dorothy Lorraine Gentry, age 86, passed away peacefully March 10, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dorothy was born in Columbia, Utah on September 26, 1933 to George and Mary Gibson.
She married William Harold Gentry on December 16, 1950 and they were blessed with four children. Dorothy developed many skills over the years, working as a nursing assistant, grocery clerk and bank teller. Her greatest love, however, was being there for her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very generous woman. Memories to be cherished are her homemade spaghetti and meatballs or rigatoni, the green thumb she had for growing flowers in the yard, our frequent camping adventures, the golf holes-in-one and just having fun. Unfortunately there are sad memories too, the loss of two sons on the same day three years apart, George Paul in 1976 and Billy in 1979. She also lost two grandchildren, Christopher George Gentry Hall and Billy Gentry Brown. In addition, she is preceded in death by her parents Mary and George Gibson, and her husband William Harold Gentry.
Dorothy is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Gentry Hall (Del) and Penny Gentry Fischer (Jim); sisters, Sister Jean Gibson, and GeorgeAnna Leseberg; daughter-in-law Tammy Gentry Hoffman; granddaughters, Tina, Kimberly, Tracie and Stefanie; and eight great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her beloved dogs, Angel and Wiggles and many friends in Beaver Dam, AZ and Mesquite, Nevada. As a member of the Mesquite Elk Lodge #2811 she had a seat at the bar.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Highland Care Center and Encompass Hospice. She was a favorite to many of the staff and residents at Highland Care Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice or have a party in her honor.
