The Carbon County Sheriff weekly update focused on the upcoming Easter weekend holiday so Sheriff Jeff Wood took time from his busy schedule to visit on the telephone with Castle Country Radio to address some of those concerns.
“With Easter weekend coming up you know I wanted to talk to folks a little bit about some of the rules. I get a lot of calls about camping and various things, you know the Governor put his directive out to limit only essential travel and then the Southeast Health Department made their order that basically says they want the counties to strongly reconsider any recreational, leisure or non-essential work travel that will take them outside of their communities,” said Wood. There are plenty of camping spots available within Carbon County for folks to enjoy or they can go out for the day and return home in the evening.
“I think Emery County is going to ask that its only residents of their county camp out at the desert there this weekend in an attempt to try and control that a little bit,” explained Sheriff Wood. This is to protect the public as well as the officers that will be out patrolling this Easter Holiday weekend. It would be very unfortunate if officers patrolling were exposed to the virus.
Wood finished by sharing his appreciation to those on the front lines of the pandemic, “Thank you very much for all the support to our first responders, to our law enforcement, and to our government in general who are really working hard to get all of us through this pandemic but enjoy time with friends and family and hope that everyone has a happy holiday.” Folks are encouraged to get outside in this time of social distancing but are advised to be smart about it.
