-How can we feel such grief at the loss of our mother and grandmother, Sue Ann Biddinger Lancaster Jacobson, and yet, joy for a life well lived and the love she gave so freely? A part of our heart is gone, but we know the loss is only on our side.  Mom has been received into the loving arms of her husband, Sid Lancaster, and her parents, Jeane and Lloyd Biddinger.  She missed them terribly, as we miss her.

Sue was born September 23, 1947, in Provo, Utah, and died July 5, 2020, in Price, Utah.  She died after a short bout with cancer, leaving us just enough time to say goodbyes.  She will be interred July 9 at Cliffview Cemetery in Price next to her husband Sid and her parents.

Sue married her sweetheart while they were students at Brigham Young University, both pursuing careers in education.  They were sealed in the Manti Temple.  Sue and Sid were a remarkable pair, and their lives in Cleveland left an impact on friends and students and the community as a whole.  She was a devoted wife who gave her all to her husband, even caring for him several years until he succumbed to cancer in 2003.  We will always remember the many adventures we shared and life lessons she taught.  She was a solid anchor for her children.

In 2006 she was blessed to meet Kirk Jacobson and his exceptional family, who also became her own children.  She’ll be remembered as an attentive and loving grandmother to the Jacobson grandchildren, sitting in bleachers for countless games and supporting them through all the good and difficult times.  Together she and Kirk served an LDS mission to the Rapid City, South Dakota mission working among the beautiful people in the Sioux Nation.

Her cherished children are Laura (James) Merrill, Logan, Utah; Alisa (Don) Kranendonk, Big Piney, Wyo.; Darin (Cynthia) Lancaster, Price, Utah; Paul (Shelly) Lancaster, Middleton, Idaho; and Ryan (Audrey) Lancaster, Moscow, Idaho.

She also cherished Kirk’s children as her own, Charity (Dean) Stilson, Castle Dale, Utah; Laci (Travis) Tuttle, Orangeville, Utah; Landon (the late Heather) Jacobson, Cleveland, Utah; and Alissa (Ted) Allen, Cleveland, Utah. For 42 grandchildren (biologic and adopted), she is Grammie.

Her husband and parents preceded her in death.  Her brothers and sisters are so grateful for the love and constant patience she showed their parents in their final years.  Susie, though small in stature, was the big sister and the rock of the family.  Sue was always the best of us.  Surviving her are Richard Biddinger, Jerri Brown, David Biddinger, Janelle Hyatt and Bonnie Frucci.

Sue found what became a good part of her life’s work with the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind.  As a teacher educating throughout Eastern Utah, she solidified the school’s Outreach Vision Services.  She coached and mentored many visually impaired students, becoming as much a part of their lives as they were hers.

Sue endured difficult times, but we’ll remember her as feisty and fearless.  Even after Sid’s death, she’d pull her trailer to mountain sites, and she was happy to spend long hours commuting to and from Manti to serve in the Manti Temple.

She will be greatly missed by three families who came to rely on her love and support.  All that is not given is lost, and she gave much.
