The Price American Legion baseball team finished 1-3 as they participated in a wood bat only tournament with seven other teams Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Green River, Wyo.
Looking to erase the taste of a two game losing skid, Price started the weekend tournament with a 5-3 loss to Rock Springs on Friday. The team responded with a victory over Riverton, but lost to Evanston and the final placing game against a team from the opposite pool.
The weekend tournament was the second wood bat competition of the season for Price. The first took place in Colorado at the beginning of the month where the team also finished 1-3. Neither of the tournament’s have bearing on the team’s divisional record for a potential playoff spot.
While the success has been marginal for the team in out of state tournaments, Price is currently 2-2 in Southern Division league play. After defeating Vernal in double-header action on June 10, Price suffered back-to-back losses to Helper.
Price will have an opportunity to get back on the winning track and put themselves in position to take control of a playoff spot as they meet St. George Tuesday in Beaver. The next home game for the team will take place on Friday against Roosevelt.
