The Price City Fire Department is hosting a Logo Contest and would like to invite citizens to participate in the contest so Castle Country Radio invited Fire Chief Fitzgerald Petersen to come speak about why they are hosting a contest.
“We have two purposes, the first one is to update our duty shirts that we wear to events, fires and stuff like that – that’s number one. But number two, by using the talent of the community, we can get them involved because we’re going to start selling them to the public, these t-shirts are for Sub for Santa and that is a project that is dear to us,” stated Chief Petersen. Members of the fire department have a huge hand in the Sub for Santa program every year so this is a great opportunity to increase funds for their program.
Usually duty t-shirts have a logo on the shirt to identify who they are to the public and generally are not sold to the public but this is going to be different. “We want something that we are very proud of but it would be even more wonderful if that design came from a member of our community – Price and the surrounding area would be fine. So, we’re going to turn it in to a contest, the 25 firefighters over there will vote on the final design, it won’t be me. It will come from the public and I’m looking forward to that,” said Chief Petersen. The current logo being used can be found on the Price City Fire Department Facebook page and any questions about the contest can be directed to the Facebook page as well.
The deadline to submit a drawing is on Monday, August 31. “If all goes well, we’ll vote on the Wednesday after, I believe that’s September 2; 31st is the deadline to submit a drawing. It can even be a rough drawing; it can be free-hand and we’ll turn it in to a graphic artist that will be fine. But we want something from the community, we want somebody we can recognize and say hey, this person made our last t-shirt and we’ll do it again in a number of years,” stated Chief Peterson.
