The Carbon Lady Dinos opened the Region 12 portion of the volleyball schedule with a dominating straight sets victory over the San Juan Broncos Tuesday evening in Blanding.

Dealing with the longest road trip of the region schedule, Carbon took immediate control of Tuesday’s match winning the first set 25-17. The dominance continued as the Lady Dinos closed out the match with 25-15 win, followed by a 25-14 score to secure the straight sets victory.

Emma Christensen led the way for Carbon by recording 11 of the team’s 25 kills. Sydney Orth recorded six kills and Janzie Jensen ended with five.

Jensen’s dominance continued throughout the match as she logged a team best seven blocks. MaKenna Blanc also recorded five. Fellow senior Katie Jones made her mark as she ended with a game-high 17 digs.

Carbon will now take a break from Region 12 play with a non-league tournament this weekend, beginning on Friday against Beaver in Mount Pleasant.

Region 12 play will continue for Carbon on Tuesday with a road contest against Richfield, before returning home on Thursday, Sept. 3 against Emery.
