Both the Carbon and Emery cross country teams participated in the 2020 UIAAA Invitational last Friday in Spanish Fork.

With over 300 runners from schools across the state the competition was difficult in both the boys and girls divisions.

On the ladies side for Carbon Ambree Jones finished with a time of 21:15.50 putting her in the top 100 out of 175 runners. Sophia Taylor finished right behind her with a time of 21:37.56.

For Emery it was Adaley Lester with a time of 21:14.15 and Kallee Cook finishing with a time of 22:37.34.

American Fork took the ladies team title with 63 points followed by Springville with 65 and Timpview took third scoring 127. Carbon finished with 608 point and Emery posted a score of 721.

Bryar Meccariello would lead the way for Emery finishing with a time of 16:07.84 giving him a top-25 finish, Jess Christiansen would end with a time of 16:21.62 finishing in the top 40 out of over 200 runners.

For Carbon Kobe Cruz logged a time of 16:54.34 finishing in the top-70 and Easton Humes ended just behind him at 16:57.59.

American Fork once again took the boy’s division scoring 41 points with Orem right behind with 45 and Cedar rounded out the top three with 163. Emery would finish with 428 points putting them in 14th place and Carbon scored 629 points finishing in 24th place out of 29 teams.

Up next for Carbon will be the Sanpete Classic on October 1st. Emery will be competing again this Thursday the 24th at Timpview.
