At this point in the season games become important when you are in region play. No game was more important to the Carbon Dino soccer team than Thursday’s game against Richfield.
At the opening kick of the game both Carbon and Richfield were tied atop the Region 12 standings with identical 6-1 records. All it took was a 1-0 loss to drop Carbon to 6-2 and also drop them two spots in the state RPI to No. 7.
These two teams seem to have been on a collision course since the beginning of the season, they are both so evenly matched that when they play back on September 9th the Dinos came away with the win by just one goal 2-1.
Carbon will look to regroup with a quick turnaround as next Tuesday the will welcome Grand to Price for the final home game of the regular season.
Grand is No. 16 in the state RPI and has a 1-4-1 record over. In their initial meeting in Moab on September 10th, Carbon took the match 3-0
Then on Thursday they will wrap up the season as they will travel to Castle Dale to take on the Emery Spartans. Emery now sits in second place in the region at 6-1 and holds the No. 10 spot in the RPI.
Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m..
