The Emery Spartans were on the road taking on the San Juan Broncos in Blanding. The Spartans would make the long trip back home a little easier with a 6-2 win but after the outcome of the Carbon and Richfield match, they would find themselves in sole possession of second place in Region 12.
Emery scored three goals in each of the halves and would shutout San Juan in the second half to seal the victory.
Heading in to the match the Spartans had a 5-1 region record and sat in third place in the standings. But after Carbon fell to Richfield, the victory over the Broncos allowed Emery to slide in to second place with just two games left in the regular season.
And the two matches couldn’t be more important. First they will face the Wildcats from Richfield, a victory in this game would allow them to take over first place in the region with one game left.
The last game of the season, they will welcome the Carbon Dinos to Castle Dale. It would give the Spartans the opportunity to get back their one loss in region. Back on September 15th the Dinos took a 2-1 victory in Price.
The final home game of the regular season against Carbon will take place October 1st at 4 p.m..
