It came down to a shootout to decide the regular season finale between the Emery Lady Spartans and the Carbon Lady Dinos Thursday night in Castle Dale.

Tied 1-1 at the end of the regulation, the two teams entered a shootout where Emery emerged victorious 3-1. The win for the Lady Spartans results in a season-series split with Carbon, as both teams protected home field.

Entering the break in a scoreless tie, each team found the back of the net once in the second half. For Carbon it was Ryan Brady scoring her 18th goal of the season. Kiralyn Olsen scored for Emery.

With Thursday’s win Emery improves to 8-2 in Region 12 play, finishing second to Richfield who ended 9-1. Carbon ends in third-place in the highly competitive division with a record of 7-3.

Both teams will now await the final RPI rankings from the Utah High School Activities Association to find out where they stand seeding wise for the upcoming state tournament.
